Acoustic Research ar5 - Refurbished/Rebuilt -- New potentiometers, not L-pads. These are the large heavy sealed versions manufactured specifically for these speakers. (original pots included if wanted)
-- Recapped with Jantzen Alumen Z caps on the tweeters and Dayton films on the mids and woofers. (original caps included if wanted)
-- New tweeters, bright, crisp and detailed. (originals included and very easily changed back out).
-- Re-foamed woofers
-- All driver gaskets resealed with brand new foam seals.
-- New 18 ct. linen lambswool grill fabric. (original grill cloth included if wanted)
-- Magnet grill hold installed to float grills off drivers and for easy on and off.
-- New walnut veneer sealed with Rubio Monocoat. I am not a professional and there are tiny things here and there but overall they look very, very good.
These are almost certainly the nicest set of ar5's available today.  They have been completely refurbished/rebuilt with no expense spared.
They have the super smooth mid-range vintage Acoustic Research is well known for.  The bass is tight and well balanced and the highs are crisp and detailed with the new tweeters.
The ar5's house the same drivers at the fabled and expensive (well over 2K in this condition) Acoustic Research AR3.  The only differences are that these use a 10 inch woofer instead of a 12 inch and they are much easier to drive with lower power amp since they are an 8ohm load versus 4 ohms.
